Life doesn’t give good opportunities for everybody, so some people has to struggle to go after their own. Shizuka can say she’s one of these people. Born and raised in a dangerous neighborhood of Aomori city, the serow girl always believed in the justice and goodness from all her favorite TV show heroes. Willing to become a benefactress of any kind no matter what, she started soon, at her school days, where she used to stand up against bullies. Not successfully, sadly, once none of her friends used to have the same courage. Even if Shizuka got enough support and consolation (after being thrown in a trash can, a water body, a pile of garbage or whatever ruined her day for standing against bullies), she slowly became to lost her faith on justice. When teenhood came, she was constantly seen hanging out and flirting with local Yakuza members, preferably the young, good-looking and most dangerous ones. In no time they were teaching her the basics of brawling and shooting. Two years of it were enough to develop a mean ‘nee-san’, for the despair of her relatives and friends, who wouldn’t want to believe the Shizuka they knew wasn’t the same anymore. Things would only change after the day she had to run for dear life after a failed attempt to eliminate a rival mob. Saved by the Imperial Patrol, she was sent to a juvenile detention center where she met an assistant that’d become her best friend and change her life forever: a sea otter girl named Umiko Kaigara. Being there to take care of the library, Umiko soon developed interest at knowing Shizuka better and try to crack that tough meanie shell of attitude of her. Insistence and patience were the keys, and after successfully acquiring the respect of the former ‘nee-san’, Umiko told her about a personal objective of becoming an officer of the Imperial Patrol. Not only Shizuka decided to help her in such goal, the serow girl got determined to join the force as well, as a way to reconquer her childhood dreams of being a benefactress. About a year later, both girls succeeded with flying colors at receiving their badges and travel the world in the name of Japanese law enforcers.

Shizuka is quite a flashy kind. She loves to be the center of attention, often acting theatrically and speaking in a vibrantly way, in order to be noticed by everyone, as if she’s constantly imagining herself as the main star of a 24/7 movie. Skillful, determined and courageous, she’s up to run any extra mile to get what she wants - most of the times a closed case. The only thing in the universe courage fails her is to express her real feelings for her partner officer and best friend Umiko, whom she secretly keeps a Platonic love for.

As determined by an old poll, here's one of the non-profiled characters that appeared in the first chapter of the Homeheroes comic. And startle not, Shizuka does use such kind of clothing. Although all my Japanese or Japanese descendent female OCs ocasionally uses such traditional Japanese college girl suit (or simply "sailor fuku"), Shizuka is the one that is mostly seen with them, practically 90% of the time she's not in the Imperial Patrol uniform.
